ACADEMIC Scholarship to Study a Foreign
Language
The
Foundation will award scholarships to
deserving young women who have attained at least the honor of Silver Award Girl Scout, and who plan
to or are currently pursuing a major/minor in foreign language at a four
year college/university. The
scholarship provides $1,500 per academic year. The scholarship may be renewed
three times following the initial award, for a total $6,000 maximum award. Scholarship renewal is not automatic, however, and awardees must submit the renewal
application and all required attachments each year.
Guidelines
To
apply for the Academic Scholarship applicants must:
1. Complete the application.
2. Provide proof verifying receipt of
the Girl Scout Silver or Gold Award.
3. Submit a letter of recommendation from
a Girl Scout volunteer or staff member who is not a relative.
4. The letter of recommendation MUST be
written within the past six months, specifically for this
scholarship.
5. Provide a copy of the acceptance
letter from the college/university (if not yet attending); or a copy of the current college transcript (if already
attending).
6. Must show proof (current transcript)
that the overall grade point AND the grade point in a foreign language is at
least a “B”.
7. Provide proof that the major/minor
will be (is) a foreign language.
Academic Scholarship Deadline
Applications and ALL supporting materials should be
shipped in one package.
Applications WILL NOT be accepted prior to March 15.
Applications MUST ARRIVE no later than May 15 (5:00pm, CST)
Applications
arriving after the deadline, for any reason, WILL NOT be
considered!
